The city of Purple, house of dainty merchandise,

a dwelling place so comely, goodly delicacies filled my plate.

Our ships had set sail on its waters, on a journey to an abyss,

an abyss so pleasant, its depravity is the life I love.

Poison is spread over your lips, the sound of death was in your voice,

The parting of your mouth is as a net cast into the sea.

as the gaze of your eye's pierces into my soul, I’m left with darkness,

the kind that I love, the kind I want to cherish for the rest of my life.

You’re an ecstasy of abomination, guiding me to a climax of Death,

your abode was in your pomp, your glory is your wine.

For I had merchandised with my soul to get thy goods,

but I’m now left with unfulfilled promises, my soul unsatisfied.

Tears fill my eyes, sorrow has drowned my soul,

But Alas! this great city has been fallen, it’s walls in ruins.

For in One Day great judgement came upon you!

I now cry on the streets, sounding a great warning,

seek not the embrace of this woman, her warmth is the grave!

in her bed lieth swaddling clothes, clothes that wrap you for death,

her doors invite every soul, I beseech thee not to hearken.

all her alluring colors are a guise, be beguiled not!

for her end draweth nigh, as close as the cold air is to the mountain tops.

thy fragrance that once aroused us has now become a stench,

your cinnamons, perfumes and ointments have become a stinking apothecary.

your bed will become desolate, all thy tapestry consumed by worms,

your flattering lips and fair speech have become nought.

sorrow will soon befall thy abode, torment you shall eat,

thy gates shall be remembered no more.

thy streets once filled with merrymaking have now become silent,

It shall be remembered that in one Day, great judgement came upon you!
